About the farm

Don Scherle was working as an accountant, but he loved spending time outdoors, and always had dreams of being a landscaper. He started planting Christmas trees in 1975, with the help of his wife, Eileen.

The children are dressed warmly, indicating a cold weather. One child is sitting on the ground, while the others are standing and listening to the man.

As the trees grew, the family grew. By the time the first trees were ready for sale in 1982, they had three children: Ryan, Dana, and Jana.

In the 80's and 90's, the demand for trees was high, and the farm kept expanding. In addition to the customers who came directly to the farm for choose-and-cut trees, the farm was supplying trees to dozens of stores and tree lots throught southern Indiana, often shipping out over 1000 trees each week in the months leading up to the Christmas season.

Eventually, the farm decided to change direction, and refocused on the choose-and-cut business. Today, Dana and her husband Rob are transitioning to taking over operation of the farm, supported by their three children: Grant, Ethan, and Tanner. Of course, Don and Eileen are still involved. And other family members help out as well.
