Caring for your tree
Fresh Cut
When you get your tree home, make a fresh cut at the base of the trunk (at least 1 inch off) to expose fresh wood for better water absorption.
Immediate Watering
Place the tree in a stand designed to hold water and fill it immediately. Trees can absorb a significant amount of water, especially in the first few days. Always use warm water — turn your faucet to fully to “hot”. This helps to thin the tree’s sap, so it can drink water more easily.
Water Regularly
Never let your tree dry out! Check the water level daily and refill as needed to ensure the base of the trunk is always submerged. A dry base can cause a seal to form, preventing water uptake. Don’t forget to use warm water!
Location, Location, Location
Position your tree away from heat sources like fireplaces, vents, and direct sunlight. These can dry out the tree quickly and lead to needle drop.
Cool Temperatures
Keep the room temperature cool, as warmer temperatures can accelerate drying. Avoid placing the tree near heat vents or appliances.
Low-Heat Lights
Use LED or miniature lights that produce minimal heat. Inspect lights for any damage before use.
